80 volts is approximately what you get with half wave rectified 120 V AC. Unfortunately with no filter it might make the brake into a buzzer.

But, if the brakes are designed for 80 V DC, 120 V will likely burn out the coils. Power goes up as the SQUARE of voltage, so 120 V is 2.25 times more heat than 80 V.
