I wondered about that after I wrote it, and noted that make_pulses was in the base thread, but the results I see on the scope if I turn dither and Pgain off will, while still a bit noisy, tend to confirm it. But when I get it back among the living, I will explore that further because it think if it was faster, it should be both more stable, and could give considerably stiffer control down in the sub 300 rpm range. Basically I am waiting on the sparkfun stuffs, and warm enough weather that I can go play in comfort. And the weather people, at this point, sure aren't writing any checks they can't cash. We are forecast for 4 to 6" of new snow and temps to match for tomorrow. Because the manpage for pwmgen doesn't expound on the math it uses to develop the active time part of the pulse, we who would use it are flying in very poor visibility conditions, adjusting this or that for effect without any clue as to how it really should be optimized for best linearity & control results. Is there a better discussion of pwmgen available than the man 9 pwmgen page? Or am I simply not grokking what it does say? I have to say I don't have a full understanding of it as it is.
