Your existing config used the hal_m5i20 driver, which no longer exists.
i did reinstall Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx and LinuxCNC (current release)

i did check  m5i20 than software created new file.
when i try to start emc2 it show error
ubuntu is working -no problem
linuxcnc is not working.
