Ideally, this sort of thing belongs in one of the files in /etc/grub.d
BUT, since it only applies to the rtai kernel, I made the change
directly in /boot/grub/grub.cfg
It looks like this:
gene@shop:/boot/grub$ grep isolcpus *
grub.cfg:menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.32-122-rtai (isolcpus=1)' --class
ubuntu --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os {
grub.cfg: linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-122-rtai
root=UUID=f4ffec31-4061-4f06-8cdf-5122dbb43354 ro quiet splash isolcpus=1
Those 2 lines may NOT be consecutive lines in the file, but will be in
the same "stanza".
As far as rights to edit it, "sudo gedit /boot/grub/grub.cfg", using
your own login password should do that editing just fine. sudo however
is only available to the installs FIRST user.
If you are not the installs first user, then have the first user do it
and ask him to add you to the /etc/sudoers file while he is at the
keyboard.
