Each time I make a rod, I have to cut out a minimum of 18 strips (for a 2 piece, two tip rod, or 24 strips, for a 3 piece, two tip rod). I'd have to then machine 18 or 24 sub plates to match the inconsistencies of the table. And since each plate would be at least 55" long (I don't have a machine that could machine that long of a plate to those dimensions, so I'd have to outsource) it would be cost prohibitive.
