My experience is somewhat limited, but I have used the
Dickson style and genuine Multifix casually. The Multifix
is indeed better than the Dickson, but so is the wedge
style Aloris system. The Aloris always uses the same side
of the wedge as the reference surface for side to side
clamping. In and out reference is provided by the flats
on both sides. The movable wedge serves to pull the holder
onto the post AND to pull the holder down to locate the
vertical reference established by the adjustment screw.
This downward force is in my opinion the single biggest
improvement over other systems which rely on gravity or
the operator to provide this force.
