Since, to function as a BLDC, the controller has to sense the rotor position within a very few degrees at all times, they do that prettty well even when using back emf to sense it, called sensorless. Then the problems resolves itself to "does it have the ability to switch that much current at that voltage this motor needs". Since the majority of what I looked at seem to have a pretty universal input tolerance, my guess is that they have that well covered too. It seems to be a pretty mature technology.
Another thought comes to mind, which is why not drive it with a VFD? It should then function as a fixed torque until stalled, completely synchronous motor, following the VFD's frequency exactly. The problem with that is that most BLDC's are 2 phase devices, and the VFD's are 3 phase. If one could pick & choose, an excellent match could be made. But I fear we would be asking the sellers for info they have little or no concept or knowledge of.
