There is a limit to db suppression for rifles.  I can double up muffs over
plugs when shooting a 50bmg but its really isn't THAT much quieter.  Bone
conduction limits the max suppression possible.

I have a set of 3M(?) muffs that are super quiet but would be useless
firing a rifle as they protrude at least 3" off the sides of my head.  They
are very bulky.  I have to use slim muffs for rifles/shotguns.  Good for
garage work though!
