Dave, I had toyed w/ replacing my glass scales and found the following on Ebay:
Here's a renishaw copy (new) of a linear magnetic read head: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231172803441 The same guy was selling these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231135218237 But, looks like he's all out of them. magnetic tape (from same vendor): http://www.ebay.com/itm/331023801182 The magnetic encoders will be way more durable than glass scales and probably cheaper (although don't hold me to that). Good luck, Mark > Date: Wed, 17 Feb 2016 16:52:55 -0500 > From: Dave Cole <[email protected]> > Subject: [Emc-users] Linear / glass Scales > To: [email protected] > Message-ID: <[email protected]> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=windows-1252; format=flowed > > > I'm shopping for some linear/glass scales for a custom industrial machine. > > I only need to read 8" of travel. > > Does anyone know of an economical solution.
