It is possible to use the hm2 UART module, and I have done. But it isn't easy. You currently need to write your own custom HAL component to encode and decode the byte meanings. To use hy_vfd it is _far_ easier to just buy a $2 USB-RS485 dongle and use that. Something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/112047282456 Though you may find one closer and faster with searching.
