Thats proclivity extends only to that which is otherwise made out of pure 
unobtainium.  But thats almost exactly what I just bought 4 of for $12 
including epacket from Hong Kong.

But these don't stick out of a usb port, they socket on the B end of usb 
printer cable, so I can stick it on the side of the inverter or even 
under the removable cover.  The 485 wiring can then be 6" to a foot long 
in twisted pair with the mylar shielding, commonly used for balanced 
audio in 5k foot spools in a tv or radio station. 

Fairly quick and cheap since I never throw away a printer cable when the 
printer goes out. I'm a founding member of the packrat club. :)
