Greetings all;

I am just finishing the last brass gib, by carving 8 slots for the
adjuster screws head starting with one that's probably a red hair loose,
so since there's nothing in the way on the back side, I can let a bit of
surplus for wear comp use stick out the right side.

"Interestink" finding while trying to file to fit as it seems my taper in
the clamp was about 20 thou in its length greater than I had machined
the gib in the same jig was, so it was tight on the thin end and needed
lots of filing before I got somewhere near a decent fit.

The file I was using, an identical 14" Nickelson to the one I was using
in the garage, was twisted about 1/16" in its length. So I set it aside
and brought the garage one up to the shop. A bit duller, but lots
faster progress at getting a flat and decent, it will wear in the rest
of the way, fit.

I've never seen a file with that much twist, is this a common problem?

Cheers, Gene Heskett
