Thats entirely possible Jeff. but SPI from/to the Odroid C2 is not in this picture. The Odroid-C2 will be an ssh -Y terminal to run the raspi, displaying the X stuff that the raspi can't. Or at least thats the plan. :) Needs an ethernet cable to a local gigabit switch, 2 usb dongles for keyboard & mouse, and will drive the monitor thru an hdmi cable which has an hdmi->dvd-i adapter on the other end. The SPI is from the raspi to the 7i90HD, and it works quite well in my tests so far. At least for output. The vfd works well on the 7i90's output, fed to a SpinX1. From 15Hz to 150Hz, which is about 450 at the motors shaft, up to 4500 at the motors shaft. With 4 belt positions and a backgear, I should be able to get any sane rpms, or even insane. :) I finished up the encoder rebuild, tested it with a screwdriver, but haven't hooked it to the 7i90 yet as I need to build an overhead frame sitting in the chip pan, with legs just tall enough the link on the garage door opener will clear the top of a crossbar with an led shop lamp on the bottom. My controller box will hang on the back of the left upright, the monitor will be on a telescopeing swing mount on the front of that upright so its nominally above the spindle housing by 12 to 18". I may put a lexan face cover on it if too much swarf gets thrown its way. The encoder I/O to the 7i90HD has been tested by grounding each of the A/B/X pins, and that shows up instantly on a halmeter, so I believe the SPI read back to the r-pi from the 7i90HD is working correctly on the r-pi. I'll make a covered shelf on the front of the chip pan to keep swarf out of the keyboard and mouse, probably lexan covered so I might stand a chance of seeing thru it. I put a lexan face on a 15" 4x3 Dell LCD monitor I found at a yard sale way out in the toulies for a $20 bill, directly behind TLM, and I've had to scrub oil & cuttings stuck in the oil off it 2 or 3 times in the 4 years its hung there. Lexan is hard to damage, I have seen red hot chips bounce off it, and my scrubbing hasn't scratched it enough to affect what I see. Thanks for the heads up Jeff, I appreciate it.
