Greetings all;

I finally got that motor out, but I've no clue how old it is. Rated at
3/4 horse, I've seen 15 horse Ajax motors on a water pump that were no
bigger. Somewhere north of 50 lbs, base bolt pattern is 6.75" square,
and shaft center is 4.25" above the mount plate. The 1 horse 3 phase is
only 3.5" shaft center above the mount, and the bolt pattern is 5"
square. Might go 35 lbs, but 30 would be a closer guess. So I'm going
to round up some 1.5" wide by 1/4" thick bar, around 16" and make a
couple bolt down clamps. Everything that ought to be an hours work seems
to delight in taking two weeks and a tank of gas to get it all in one
pile to bolt up again.

I compared the weight of that 3/4 horse with 3/4's of Colonel, which was
a horse we had a pair on on the farm in 1945, King and Colonel, a pair
of Perches that between them weighed 4150 lbs, We had tractors, but if
we really needed something moved, daddy would whistle up those 2, and it
got moved. Daddy spoke horse, many times if I was picking corn, I never
heard the commands for them to take a couple steps. But they did.

But the motor is in great shape, drum switch to go with it in case anyone
needs it. Ball bearings, quiet. I 2 wheeled it down to the boat house
to be in out of the weather till whenever.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
