i think Mcodes are more suited to machine functions,
gcodes are for motion
mcodes can be scripts and easily managed
i uploaded mcodes before with python commands to change edm generator 
on/off/current/polarity
a python script can be very powerful, it can issue hal commands and 
alter hardware
