LinuxCNC's "master" branch, and versions of LinuxCNC after 2.7.xx, will not work with Ubuntu Lucid. You will need a fresh install of a newer OS if you want to experiment with compiling the LinuxCNC master branch, or when LinuxCNC 2.8 is released and you want to upgrade to it.
http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?MinimumSoftwareVersions If you use the install image with Debian 7 and LinuxCNC 2.7 from our website you can create a fresh installation which will also support building and testing the LinuxCNC master branch. However, take care when doing this, because it is a full, fresh operating system installation, not an update. Personally I recommend using a fresh hard drive for a fresh installation if possible, it reduces the chances of lost data; in all cases you should be sure you have a correct and complete backup of your working installation. http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/getting-started/getting-linuxcnc.html Jeff ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, SlashDot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
