Thats a given in stuff at this price I think. Plus its a 4 jaw independent, meaning its me doing the centering anyway. As for the nominally 7" 3 jaw on it now, the register has already been trimmed so I can loosen it, and center it better with a dead blow hammer. But it still can't grab square stock, such as when making armstrong bolts. I have both styles of chucks for TLM, but I can't remember the last time I put the 3 jaw on it. Its a poor chuck anyway, with nowhere near a good spiral in the scroll, so its off-center as much as 10 thou depending on the od of the workpiece. And since the backplate IS the spindle flange on TLM, why even bother with a 3 jaw... About the only time its really useful is when chucking up brass hex stock for making brass bolts with ready made hex heads. On either lathe. Changing horses in the middle of the river here. I was just trying to setup the halscope to tune the spindle pid better, and following the wiki article on tuning a velocity servo by John Thornton, when I found that none of the pids were showing a f.error pin, just an error pin. Is this bit rot, or intentional? Yesterdays 2.8.0-pre. Thanks Andy. Cheers, Gene Heskett -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
