Ethercat master from Etherlab require some changes at least to the Kernel 
Ethernet drivers. Then reading source code for hostmot ethernet driver I could 
see realtime "uspace" is required. In some kind of documentation from Etherlab 
I read the decision to change kernel drivers was done quite early but this is 
by now rather old software.

I guess these kind of changes may be included in current RT patch. The question 
is if a standard RT kernel as is today need changes to the drivers to get good 
real time performance? Any idea?
