Not that fast.  even if you round 704750 up to a million that is one
microsecond per count.   On a modern Intel CPU core you might be able to
execute 5,000 or more  machine instructions in microsecond.  20,000 if you
have four cores.   On a Raspberry Pi CPU core it is about 1,000 machine
instructions per uSec.

Yup, common occurrence in my ancient wet ram. That means the maximum edge
> count per second is only 704750, which is still darn fast.
