Seems to be at this point. Control box powers up and all the lights in the
box come up.  The stepper motors lock up with the hold power and I
definitely can't move them by hand.

I've noticed previously when I forget to power the control box up after
bringing up LinuxCNC the display showed the Z axis counting up as if it was
trying to move the axis. Since it's a stepper system and not a closed loop
system like if I was running servos shouldn't it still be counting up as if
the axis were moving awaiting the tripping of the home switch for that
axis?
