Something which I think ought to work is a crank position sensor set. The rotors look like this, with a magnetic track on the ouside: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332776964935 The sensors can report direction and index, but as wires are expensive they do it all in one channel, with pulse-length indicating direction and a missing-pulse for index. https://www.continental-automotive.com/en-gl/Passenger-Cars/Powertrain/Gasoline-Technologies/Injection-System/Engine-Speed-Sensors/Active-Crankshift-Sensor Unfortunately none of the LinuxCNC encoder readers can currently use this sensor type. -- atp "A motorcycle is a bicycle with a pandemonium attachment and is designed for the especial use of mechanical geniuses, daredevils and lunatics." — George Fitch, Atlanta Constitution Newspaper, 1916 _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list Emc-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
