Greetings all; A question about mounting these connectors. They do not come with a lock washer, but a lock ring of about 20 gauge wire.
So in my mind, the hole in the panel should be of a size that when the socket is installed in the hole, this wire will be squeezed into the hole of the socket such that the nut, installed bare, with this wire against the sockets flange, and ther nut drawn up, the socket will be pulled into the hole converting the wire into a taperlock resembling method to prevent the socket from turning. This means the size of the hole is pretty critical, but I've never seen any drawings as to how big the hole is to make the wedge effect work best. I've just spent an hour searching for clues as to how to properly use that washer, it has a closed gap so obviously is not intended to be crushed to fit. But why not? This is the exact same plug as used for mic connectors on 100 kajillion cd radios since the 1970's except its 5 pin, not 4.
