Gene has been busy getting a Pi4 to run standard LinuxCNC but I think with a MESA card.
The PIC32 based PICnc appears to be limited to 40khz stepping pulses so it's no screamer compared to a MESA card plus this project is now 5 years old. https://github.com/kinsamanka/PICnc-V2/wiki I'm not even sure it's worth it except it could be enhanced to have an LCD and a 32 to 48 key matrix for all the common operations. If laid out to also have opto isolated inputs and drivers along with terminal strips it would then also replace the Break Out Board too. Essentially plug in a Pi4 into a alger board that looks like a BoB. Simple 4 axis CNC control system. But probably wouldn't be any cheaper than one of the far east CNC boxes. So the question again becomes why? I don't have the answers. Just more questions.
