Greetings all;

The shaft extension I made in order to drive the omron encoder from the
rear of spindle motor, is made out of brass, and the elastomer coupling
has now worn the top of the shaft a we bit sloppy, so that when the 2
retainer setscrews located at 0 and 90 degrees, are now pulling the
encoder in about a 1/4" diameter circle if the top plate is loosened to
allow it to move. This IMO is not good on the bearings in the encoder.
So my thoughts are to pitch this overly stiff coupling in favor of some
quite soft clear plastic hose with a rubber band rolled over each end to
act as a clamp, and which would transfer 10x the torque needed to drive
the encoder, while doing things in a much closer to a straight line.

Comments, better ideas?

Cheers, Gene Heskett
