I figured this would be easy and I was right. The HAL and INI files are produced by Stepconf with no edits. I connect a cheap $5 hobby servo motor to the parallel port pin #16 with no extra hardware, just a wire. I also run 5 volts DC to the motor. The default signal generated by pwmgen and intended to control spindle speed is directly used to control this motor.
The neat thing is that no driver electronics are needed, just a direct connection to the parallel port. These motors are powerful enough to do things like turn and adjust coolant valves or in my case turn the 4.7K pot that controls spindle speed. I used the default HAL file for this test but in real life, some multipliers might be needed to scale value to an angle. Pictures below 1) screengrab of scope showing that PWM is 100 Hz so that it will certainly work with any hobby servo. 2) video of the servo moving in response to clicks on "Axis". (we will see if .mp4 video works on this list server) [image: Logicscreenshot.jpg] servotest.mp4 <https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qnNP15i66IRKaUIIPh33Bh1FKa5AMg5_/view?usp=drive_web> -- Chris Albertson Redondo Beach, California
