How to convert to a different bed material? Posible do nothing. many people print directly on the metal plate. Maybe they put glue in it first of use hairspray. Glass is also popular and they use four metal binder clips. Some use cheap mirror tiles from Home Depot or have the hardware store custom cut window glass or spend $25 a sheet for borosilicate glass custom-sized for their printer. So convert to glass, just get some glass and some sprint clips
I just use the bare aluminum plate coated with glue stick. I'm thinking of switching to glass so I can clean and prep theplates while the printer is working. I'd need at least two sheets of glass. Are you still using SD cards? I've converted to Octoprint and have a webcam streaming the printer. Octoprint runs well on the PC I use for LinuxCNC on the million machine. It even runs while Linux CNC is running and seems to not cause problems. It is a 6-year old Intel PC with old "Core Dual" CPU and 4GB RAM. Octoprint allows "drag and drop" printing and now I can monitor progress from any computer I use of even on my phone. The printer new sets in the fr corner of my garage where I don't have to listen to it.
