Greetings all; First, Merry Christmas to all.
And its white out, nothing in the air ATM but about 3" on the ground at 4AM on this special day. Running this spindle via a usb-2 at 19.2 or thereabouts kilobaud strikes me as a not very high priority thing, and since I have so successfully used a slower thread on the pi running the Sheldon with all its manual controls running in a 200hz thread, I woke up just now with the thought that with all the data that hy_vfd has to shovel around, there is absolutely no reason to addf it a 1 khz servo-thread, and it would be just as happy running at 2x a second in a vfd-thread. It will be running on a D525MW mobo, which is not a particularly speedy mobo anyway. Decent latency but its still a slow intel atom 2 core cpu. So like the pi, it has a shortage of cpu cycles, actually fewer than the pi because the pi has 4 cores running at 900 khz, vs 2 at 1.4GHz for the atom. Thoughts? Any reason to addf it to any faster a thread than 2x a second? Thanks all. Cheers, Gene Heskett -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
