The two 7i92H's I ordered are still stuck in the mail because the delivery
person decided to leave a note for me to pick them up and pay taxes at a post
office, instead of ringing the doorbell and paying her right there. One is a
spare for me to play with off the machine and the other for a friend who is a
MACH user but hates Windows so other than an old NT machine for MACH3 and a
laptop specifically for Fusion360 he's a Linux fan.

It's been so long since I set mine up for the DC and AC servos with high step
rates that I've forgotten what to do. When the boards arrive he's coming over
here to see a demo and so I freed up some partition space on an older I686
version of LinuxCNC. This laptop is older and annoying because tapping on the
touch pad doesn't do anything. Have to use the buttons. Annoying. Think I'll
plug in a mouse...

john@Flipper-III:~$ uname -a
Linux Flipper-III 3.4-9-rtai-686-pae #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 3.4.55-4linuxcnc
i686 GNU/Linux

Anyway, only has WiFi and Hardwired Ethernet. I configured the system to use
WiFi for internet and I assume when I plug in the MESA something good will
happen.

Meanwhile. Can I use PNCconfig or do I have to create the HAL and INI files
myself? IIRC, the 7i92H wasn't in the list of PNCconf devices and I had to
program the unit with 7i92_C11Gx2D.pin to match the Break Out Board I was using.

I want to create a step by step guide for him. He'll be using the Pi4 LinuxCNC
version on an 8GB Pi4. I have Pi4 here too. But for that I just copied over
my PC based HAL and INI files and used them without any issues on my mill.

Thanks
John
