FYI

Yes, once the machine is homed. any program that would exceed the limits is flagged that it will exceed a specific axis limit in which direction (+ or -).  Also, you get that message when such a program is loaded.  If you jog toward the soft limit, motion will come to a smooth stop at the soft limit.

The Axis GUI shows the bounding box of the loaded program in red on the 3D preview.
