Hi Gene,

I just used an Atmel AVR (before arduino was around) to read the 0-5V signal. I 
don’t remember the exact project. Later I used one in a test fixture that was 
operated by an arduino and a custom interface board. Among other features, it 
verified leakage (or lack thereof) of lids for enclosures for a tracking 
device. I haven’t ever interfaced it to LinuxCNC, I’m afraid. But the parts 
were very reliable and the accuracy was pretty good.
