All you really need to do is cut a $10 adapter cable in half. Expose all the wires. Then on one part you attach a female socket to each wire and on the other a male pin to each wire. Then you can reconnect the cable any way you like.
Or for that matter, use solder and shrink wrap and make up a cleaner looking adapter cable, after you know what works.
