This last link seems interesting. But a std 4-5 axis breakout board cannot duplicate a 7i90HD which give 72 i/o's.

BUT the 7i90HD has two ways to talk, spi which I'm using, and a 26 pin header that looks like a parport. Mesa has a plethora of cards for this that give way more i/o than a std breakout. So the possibilities are there.
