Yes. Been there a number of years ago. When we lived in The Netherlands back
in 92-94 we also spent Christmas's with my Aunt and Uncle in Melton Mowbray.
We’ve driven around Loch Ness in an Austin Mini rental many years ago (1977).
I know. Machining and stuff aren't exactly tourist attractions.
If where you are going is anything like here, pay attention to little
signs that look 20+ years old. Got several of them here. One hides a
custom decorative iron shop with a linuxcnc driven cutting torch making
tops for ornamental wrought iron fencing. Another small foundry makes
wheels for White large cars. The guy with the 4x8 water table is an
artist, doesn't know a computer from a sawhorse but he sure knows how to
do what he does. Those little 2 to 10 man shops hide a huge knowledge
pool that can be quite educational to visit.

Hi John,
Have you been to the National Science Museum in London?
I would recommend a few hours there.
https://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/
The website is not very inspiring but there is a huge collection of items on the
history of the industrial revolution and space travel.

?Hi all,
My wife Linda and I are off to the UK in October. We'll be in London for 6
days getting over "Jet Lag" and just visiting the familiar places we've been
before and some others. It's our first holiday in 8 years and after losing
our son last December we need to get away and recharge.
From London it's a few days at Hay-On-Wye in Wales. After that we don't
know for sure although Linda would be happy visiting wool shops or Gin
distilleries plus some hiking in the hills. What's around for metal
working, foundry, casting, machining touristy type stuff? Either in Wales
or around Gatwick where we'll be visiting my cousin.
John
