Renaming in CVS is near enough to undo-able.

Is there no way of retaining a local copy of the commit history for
the old file and then move to a new one? I think that renaming the
file is the "Right Thing", but I have no experience dealing with
project management under CVS.

I wonder what our benevolent project leader and master of fates thinks?
