Hm, as far as I can tell emms reads the tags only for files that are in
the playlist which have no entry in the cache database till then or that
have an entry with a modification time that is older that the file's
current modification time.

So maybe it's better to investigate further in that direction than
disabling the whole feature.

Maybe you edited the tags with another app or something else changed the
mtimes of the files?
