My apologies Adrian.. Exegesis and thesis here are interchangeable .. Not both! And yes.. These are only 1-0-1 starting points to allow ppl to begin to orientate.. Ultimately a complex nuanced picture emerges, hopefully as you rightly say with the researchers hand staying on the helm .. Again cementing the essential need for the methods of specific practice itself in its many shades to be recognised as part of a mixed methodologucal approach.. and hence something distinctly personalized and specific. Our job as supervisors and mentors is to argue and ensure this primacy is achieved. In many ways one coukd argue its a great time to be a phd right now.. With experience and distance have come degrees of freedom ..
