I did more investigating. The problem does not occur in Chrome and is
not related to "async" in the script tag.

It also does not occur when the app is compiled in VC++ Release mode.
The differences between Release and Debug are

  * file size: Release is 2.5MB, Debug is 3.4MB.
  * optimization level: Release -02, Debug -O0

I'm unable to test if this is issue is specific to my project as it is
the only Emscripten project I have at present. If anyone else is seeing
or not seeing this issue when compiling/linking with -O0, please let me
know. Then I will file a bug against FF. I'm seeing this in FF27 on the
beta channel.
