Maybe I'm missing something, but we certainly need .so, as many projects
emit libraries in that format (and .dll for windows I suppose). Also, not
sure we should add .bc to the list, if it hasn't been a problem in practice
until now.

Or is the point to look for lib* first instead of *? That sounds reasonable
if that is how native toolchains work.
