Did the executable come with the debian distribution?  If so, you
should report it to debian maintainer.

If you compiled it yourself, was it recompiled after the upgrade?  It
is possible, especially with 'unstable' systems that libraries have
been changed in an incompatible way and require all software to be
recompiled.

Another thought is to try running encfs under valgrind or the debugger
to try to pinpoint why it is exiting.
