Yes, I found this out after writing my mail, my wrong, I should have
taken more time reading the manual.

True, the used algorithms are open and described, which is a Good
Thing, of course.

The encfs was created on debian unstable, where encfs 1.5.2-1 is linked against
libboost_serialization-mt.so.1.38.0. I'm not able to use the filesystem
on ubuntu jaunty, with encfs 1.4.2-2 linked against
libboost_serialization-gcc42-1_34_1.so.1.34.1.
