I have a custom-compiled version of encfs 1.5 running on a 64-bit CentOS 5.2
system. We're using paranoia mode. We have close to a 1TB of data per
server encrypted but now that we're processing the data it's taking a very
long time. Just doing an 'file exist' operation takes 20 minutes in a encfs
directory whereas the same operation takes 1.3 seconds in /tmp. I'm seeing
plenty of spare CPUS (16 i7 cores) and memory (72GB). 1.4 seems to be 5-10
times faster but our data was created on 1.5 and we aren't able to downgrade
(incompatible).
Anything we can do to speed it up for existing encrypted files?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
