showcruft just shows files that teh given encryption can not decrypt. That is files that were not created using the given encryption. The .encfs file should be ignored (of course) as it is plain text (sigh) but the others may be files that were created using a different encryption were renamed outside the encryption, or are simple corrupt in some way. the question thus becomes, what created them. Check the file dates, and try to remember what you were doing at that time. NOTE: I myself like to layer multiple different encryptions into the same encryption storage directory as a method of adding 'chaff' and making 'rubberhose attacks' useless. That is not everything in my encrypted storage area is actually decryptable, and I have notices to that effect an many places. Any use of showcruft on my encryption directories will thus always show lots of 'bad' files.
