I was interested in using the encfs reverse encryption with rsync to do a remote backup. I was surprised to see that you cannot use unique/IV/external chaining and per-block random bytes with --reverse. Doesn't that impact the security of the encrypted data? It is not clear to me why these options are not available for reverse encryption. Is there something I am missing?
