Dear friends,

In Romania, Association for the Promotion of Women - APower develops the
campaign Break the Silence! in order to raise public awareness about
violence against women, as a factor of discrimination and violation of
human rights.

The campaing intends to organize:
- 2 public awareness campaigns in 10 high school and 10 private
institutions from Timisoara, for almost 10000 people
- 16 days media awareness campaign on the local TV, radio and publication
with an impact over 100.000 people from Timis County.
- December 5, a one-day international conference for 50 women leaders from
Romania, Central and East of Europe focused on building together a network
of Women NGO's working against gender violence.

The target group is formed by youth between 14-18 years, women and men
between 20-45 years, and women leaders from Romanian and international
NGO's and civil society. Also, through media campaigns we can reach a very
diversified target group of women and men with different ages and social
conditions.

We have prepared a TV adverstising clip (30 seconds of animation) that
will be displayed at the local and national TVs and in the cinemas. Also, we
have a 15 minutes movie that will be displayed in the institutions and high
schools and promotional materials: posters, folders, leaflets, buttons,
T-shirts, bags, agendas and pens.

The campaign started on 25 november with an action named "The night in
the candle light". The people who sustain the ideas of the campaign will be
present in front of the Opera House in Timisoara with a candle in their
hands.

Best wishes,

Adela Dinu
