Hello,

I am newly subscribed to this list, and belong to an NGO in Malaysia
which provides shelter and counselling to women in crises; primarily
victims of domestic violence and their children.

Recently, there has been a heavy emphasis on the issue of incest in
Malaysia. There has been discussions of increasing the penalty for
incest offenders to a maximum of 20 years, some parties even asking for
compulsory life sentence or chemical castration.

Does anyone have any research papers on understanding the causes of
incest, especially from a feminist perspective? Also on the prevalance
and current protocols dealing with the intervention and prevention of
this issue in your respective countries?

One main thread of discussion is, how does men's involvement in the
upbringing of children affect the issue of incest?

Appreciate any responses. Thanks.
