REQUEST FOR STATISTICS ON PERCENTAGE OF ABUSE IN DIVORCE
Dear End-Violence subscribers,
Is one of you aware of statistics on the percentage of divorce-seeking
women who do so to escape abuse (against themselves or their children,
physical or psychological)?
This could be about to the situation in Europe, Australia, North America,
or anywhere else in the world.
Such a statistic seems especially relevant when discussing the
more-or-less mandatory mediation/parental authority/welfare reform
legislative schemes being advocated by by the "fathers' rights" lobby and
implemented by conservative administrations everywhere (e.g. bill H.R.
4737, the Personal Responsibility, Work and Family Promotion Act, just
passed by the U.S. Congress - more at

I am looking for some kind of survey where women would have indicated
seeking or having sought divorce for that reason even if the procedure did
not call for /or allow her to reveal the abuse.
Thanks in advance for your help. Fee free to pass this on, e-mail me
directly or post your answer or suggestion to the list.
I'll report back succinctly to End-Violence on any data located.
In solidarity,
