I doubt this is the case. The logo itself was released as a file under a LGPL license (IIRC). If you used that to create your logo, you are bound to the terms of that license.
The trademark we hold for the logo has been granted for: "Computer application software for mobile phones, namely, software for creating and managing a virtual desktop and the development and execution of other software applications; Computer application software for desktops, laptops, and netbooks, namely, software for creating and managing a virtual desktop and the development and execution of other software applications; Computer software development tools; Computer software, namely, software development tools for the creation of mobile internet applications and client interfaces; Downloadable computer software for creating and managing a virtual desktop and the development and execution of other software applications; Downloadable software for creating and managing a virtual desktop and the development and execution of other software applications; Downloadable software in the nature of a mobile application for creating and managing a virtual desktop and the development and execution of other software applications; Graphical user interface software" and "Computer software design; Computer software design for others; Computer software design, computer programming, or maintenance of computer software; Computer software development; Computer software development and computer programming development for others; Computer software development in the field of mobile applications; Consultancy in the field of software design; Consulting in the field of software and product development in the field of free and open source software" cf. http://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=4063108&caseType=US_REGISTRATION_NO&searchType=statusSearch So, from my limited understanding, it depends on what you are intending to do with the logo. If you are not intending to use it in a case that could be fitted into one of the categories mentioned above, I don't see why you would need approval to use it.
