Patch Set 2: Hi Ravi, First of all, the whole approach will be changed and I'll resubmit a patch which returns a link to the relevant entity, instead of the entity itself. But as for your question, there could (theoretically) be actions that do not change the state of an entity in the engine, or maybe they change the state of more than one entity. By adding a signature that gets the boolean 'returnEntityWhenDone' I leave it to the programmer's decision whether this specific action should return an entity or not.
