Hi friends, The Proverb of The Day Is :
― *'Make a mountain of a mole hill' * [Audio (US)]<http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/44/En-us-make_a_mountain_out_of_a_molehill.ogg> * *― *Explanation :* Exaggerate; make a difficulty seem much greater than it really is. *― **Origin : *The metaphor is an old one. Horace wrote 'Parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus'; "the mountains will labour, a ridiculous mouse will be born." Horace here meant to poke fun at heroic labours producing meager results; his line is also an allusion to one of Aesop's fables, The Mountain in Labour. The title to Shakespeare's play, Much Ado about Nothing, expresses a similar sentiment. ―* Example :* ■ "You have only a small blister on your heel, but you complain as though you broke your leg. Why are you making a mountain out of a molehill?"* * ■ "If you're stuck in traffic, try not to *make a mountain out of a molehill* worrying about it too much. It could be much worse." ―* Further Reading : * ** *http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/make_a_mountain_out_of_a_molehill ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ELC --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "English Learner's Cafe" group.
