As far as stationary and stationery are concerned (only difference
being the 'a' and 'e' occurring in them), my Bio teacher gave an easy
method to differentiate as follows:-
In stationery which means 'paper and other writing materials'
contains 'e'. Remember 'e' of stationery by envelope which is made of
paper and is included in stationery. Simple (isn't it)!!
